Lab.Equipment is here to keep you updated on the current Pathology industry news. Here is what we have curated from the American Journal of Clinical Pathology today for you:
Diagnostic hematopathology has always been a multimodality specialty requiring the assimilation of the morphologic assessment with immunophenotype, cytogenetics, molecular diagnostics, clinical laboratory data, and clinical information. Furthermore, hematopathology is a specialty fraught with benign mimics of malignant conditions, clinicopathologic correlations, and subclassifications of tumors. Recently, there has been an upsurge in new knowledge, particularly in the field of molecular genetics, which is being increasingly incorporated into the diagnosis, classification, and treatment of hematologic disorders. Interpretation of this information is not always straightforward and requires careful integration with other clinicopathologic features. In addition, advances in established methods such as minimal (ie, measurable) residual disease by flow cytometry are becoming the standard of care. The vast amount of potentially diagnostically relevant information stemming from these developments can at times be overwhelming, even to experienced hematopathologists...
